The action group Syndicol was set up following the initiative of several trade union officials of the general trade federation of the FGTB the Belgian socialist trade union federation - the CNE the national confederation of clerical workers and the Brussels section of the CSC the Belgian Confederation of Christian Trade Unions and Colombian trade union officials/political refugees. In the meantime, Syndicol got the support of the FGTB and the CSC as a whole and of the main Colombian trade union confederations, the CUT, the CGT and the CTC.
Syndicol has an
action plan to provide assistance and solidarity to the workers and their trade unions in Colombia. It intends to support them in their fight against the violations of human rights and trade union rights, to see to it that these rights are better complied with and recognized and to introduce a real democracy where peace, social dialogue and social justice prevail.
